Eastern Beach and the Waterfront Foreshore
Eastern Beach is Geelong's most iconic landmark and one of the most photographed spots in regional Victoria. The Art Deco sea baths, heritage Carousel, and sweeping foreshore promenade make it an unmissable first stop for any visitor.
The beach itself is a calm, family-friendly swimming spot protected by a sea wall. The foreshore walk extends from Eastern Beach all the way through to Rippleside Park, passing coffee carts, playgrounds and excellent water views along the route. Early morning and sunset are the best times; on a clear day you can see the You Yangs and Melbourne's skyline across the bay.
Alexandra Avenue is a 5-minute walk from Eastern Beach. Avoca Place is approximately a 7-minute walk away. Admiral Place is within comfortable walking distance of both the waterfront and Eastern Beach. York Street places guests in the heart of Geelong, with easy access to the waterfront promenade, city centre and many of the region's most popular attractions.
Bellarine Peninsula, Wineries, Beaches and Village Life
The Bellarine Peninsula is less than 30 minutes from central Geelong and offers an entirely different pace. The region has developed a serious reputation for food and wine in recent years, with wineries like Oakdene, Jack Rabbit, Banks Road and Scotchmans Hill all worth visiting.
The towns of Queenscliff and Portarlington each have their own distinct character. Queenscliff is the more established of the two, with heritage buildings, excellent restaurants, and the iconic Queenscliff Brewhouse, formerly known as the historic Esplanade Hotel, located in the heart of town. Portarlington is widely known for its fresh mussels and relaxed seafront atmosphere.
From Queenscliff, you can also take the ferry across to Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula. For beach lovers, Point Lonsdale and Barwon Heads offer excellent surf beaches and calm bayside swimming. The drive along the Bellarine Peninsula is scenic and well worth taking slowly.
Surf Coast and Great Ocean Road
Torquay, the spiritual home of Australian surfing, is 30 minutes from Geelong by car. The Australian National Surfing Museum is located there, and the famous Bells Beach, one of the world's most celebrated surf breaks, is a further 15 minutes south. Even non-surfers enjoy the walk down to the beach and the drama of the cliff views.
Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Lorne and Apollo Bay are all within reasonable day trip range, with Lorne offering excellent cafes and swimming. The Great Ocean Road is one of Australia's great scenic drives, allow a full day if you plan to venture as far as the Twelve Apostles.

Westfield Geelong is the city’s major shopping centre, located on Malop Street in the heart of the CBD and within easy reach of most Mibnb properties. It features more than 200 stores, including major retailers, supermarkets, specialty shops, cafés and dining options.
General opening hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Wednesday, extended trading hours on Thursday and Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, and 10:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday.
Parking:
Free parking periods are available, including up to 2 hours on weekends for Westfield members.
